MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL, MR. MARTINSEN This year I will read from a children’s book periodically at the Monday morning assemblies. The book is Inch and Miles: The Journey to Success by Coach John Wooden with Steve Jamison and Peanut Louie Harper. Coach Wooden sets his Pyramid of Success in an easy to read and understandable format for children. The book follows the adventures of Inch and Miles as they learn about all 15 building blocks in the pyramid. Last week we heard about Hard Work from Axelrod the Ant. On Tuesday, Rhonda the Robin will explain Enthusiasm. Each block ties in to how to be a success. We will read about the last block of the pyramid, Personal Best, on May 2nd. Coincidently, STAR Testing starts on May 3rd this school year. By the time testing begins all students will have heard about the 15 blocks in Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success. They will be ready to do their personal best as they demonstrate their mastery of the state standards. Ask your children about the adventures of Inch and Miles. That way you can also take the journey to the top of the pyramid! |
